Car marketing usually leans on new tech, more power, or a longer feature list. Lexus’s new Envious green Special Appearance Package for the 2027 IS has none of that going for it — same familiar 311-hp V6, same chassis, same everything mechanically. The entire pitch is a color and a wheel design. And based on the photos, that might genuinely be enough to move 350 units without much resistance.

The Details Are Coordinated, Not Just Slapped On

Envious paint paired with 19-inch black BBS forged alloy wheels is the headline, but the interior treatment is what elevates this beyond a simple paint-and-wheels package. Black NuLuxe upholstery gets Ultrasuede inserts, green stitching that ties directly back to the exterior color, and satin chrome trim. It’s coordinated without going overboard — Lexus resisted the temptation to turn the whole cabin into a themed set piece, which is the right call.

The Mechanical Additions Are Real, Even If Modest

Beyond the visual stuff, the package adds adaptive suspension, a Torsen limited-slip differential on rear-drive models, and the full Technology Package — Mark Levinson audio, a panoramic camera system, and triple-beam LED headlights. None of that is exotic, but it’s a genuine functional upgrade layered under the cosmetic one, which makes the package feel less like a trim sticker and more like an actual configuration worth considering.

The Pricing Structure Is Oddly Transparent, Then Suddenly Isn’t

Lexus was refreshingly specific about the base IS 350 F Sport Design pricing — $47,545 RWD, $49,545 AWD — and the true F Sport starting at $49,845 RWD or $51,845 AWD. And then, right as you’re ready to price out the actual Envious package you came here for, Lexus goes quiet. No word yet on what the green paint and BBS wheels actually cost on top of the F Sport base. That’s a strange place to stop being transparent, and it leaves shoppers unable to actually budget for the thing that made them click in the first place.

My Take

With just 350 examples earmarked for North America, this is squarely a “if you want it, don’t wait” scenario once pricing lands. What I actually appreciate here is Lexus not pretending this needed to be a bigger update than it is — no fake claims of a “new model,” just an honest, well-executed appearance package that leans entirely on genuinely good design work. Sometimes that’s exactly the right amount of effort for a mid-cycle refresh, and I’d rather see manufacturers do a small thing well than a big thing half-heartedly.
